Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any cost to participating?

There is no fee to apply. Program access, tools, and training are provided at no cost as part of CHERP participation (details shared during onboarding).

What if I also install gas appliances?

That's okay. For CHERP-referred opportunities, participating contractors agree to follow the program's electrification intent — including not switching CHERP customers from electric to gas for the CHERP pathway. If a customer asks about alternatives, you can discuss options transparently while still honoring CHERP program standards.

How long does the approval process take?

We'll reach out within 1–2 weeks through your preferred communication channel to confirm next steps. From there, it's typically just a matter of submitting your documentation and attending the next training workshop.

What documentation do I need to provide?

At minimum: active license, insurance, and an enrollment package (CSLB documentation, certificates, measures you're qualified to install, and agreement to the code of conduct/program manual), plus completion of the CHERP onboarding training.

Do I need to offer every electrification measure to participate?

No — contractors can participate based on the measures they're licensed and qualified to install. Your listing and opportunities align with your approved scope.
